RPL Board Chair Marj Gavigan, along with representatives from other Saskatchewan library regions, met with The Honourable Jeremy Cockrill, Minister of Education last month to discuss the importance of libraries and the provincial library system. The Ministry of Education houses the Provincial Library and Literacy Office – the hub for the provincial library system.
Libraries in our province are all connected. Because of that, Saskatchewan library card holders have access to:
- More than four million books, CDs, DVDs, e-books and other library materials at any public library in the province;
- More than 90,000 audio and eBook downloaded right to your electronic device;
- More than 1.5 million downloadable audio books and other accessible formats for individuals with print disabilities, through the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) and the National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS);
- Books and materials from out-of-province libraries through an interlibrary loan; and
- Multilingual services for individuals who speak other languages.
