Let's Get Heated!

Many people were introduced to the romance genre by the Heated Rivalry phenomenon, Crave’s breakout hit show based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series. For newbies, the rules of the romance genre are pretty simple: the plot needs to revolve around a romantic relationship, and it must end with a happily ever after (HEA) or a happy for now (HFN). So, whether you're a die-hard romance fan, or someone new to the genre, we have books to keep you busy while you wait for season two.

2SLGBTQIA+ Romance

Romance is the genre of hope, optimism and joy, and these 2SLGBTQIA+ titles explore love and relationships with a guaranteed HEA or HFN ending. You can find classic romance tropes like slow burn or enemies to lovers (and other sports romance aside from hockey) in the titles below, but we also have an extended booklist for even more options.

Hockey Romance

If you're looking for more heat on the ice, and you’ve finished all the Game Changers books, try Rachel Reid’s The Shots You Take and Time to Shine, both standalone hockey romances. The Shots You Take is a thoughtful second-chance romance about two former best friends and teammates who reunite after the death of one of their fathers. Time to Shine follows a Saskatoon goalie who gets called up to play for Calgary and ends up rooming with a charming star player. If you're still not satiated, we have a a list of even more hockey romances for you.

All Hail the Queen! Mary Balogh

Many people are surprised to hear that Mary Balogh, the bestselling historical romance author, actually lives in Saskatchewan. She's an icon in the romance industry, but, if you're a first time reader and not sure where to start, try Slightly Dangerous for a haughty hero whose glare is a deadly weapon. If you're more interested in polite manners and dialogue-rich storytelling, try one of her newer titles like Remember Love.
