Central Library Renewal

The Central Library Renewal project has been rapidly moving forward since Regina City Council’s initial approval on July 9, and again on Oct 1, 2024.

We’re pulling together the information that will be needed for developers to submit their ideas for a new Central. This process takes quite awhile – it likely won’t be until this time next year that we select one! Rest assured, we will keep you informed as we move forward, and provide opportunities for you to share your ideas.

The new Central will be a centrepiece in Regina. It will reinvigorate downtown and make it an attractive place to be. It will offer space for community, learning, quiet reflection, cultural events, art, film, and more. It will be safe, secure, and welcoming.

Behind the scenes, Central is the hub that supports Regina’s library system – it is part of Regina’s essential infrastructure. Having a modern building will provide our team added supports for their roles in helping serve our community.

I encourage you to think about this project as our municipal election draws closer. Ask candidates how they feel about a new Central Library. Think about the candidates who support the project, and how they can help keep our funding in place. And, of course, don’t forget to vote!

I hope you’re as excited as we are about this wonderful new space we will have for our city. If you’re interested in learning more, you can visit our website or send me an email.

Take care,
Jeff Barber
Library Director & CEO
